Meet the New Regional TRAVEL & WORDS

TRAVEL & WORDS has pivoted to a new format to meet the moment. The health and safety of attendees are of primary concern. As a result, Travel & Words is smaller with fewer attendees. Instead of one big annual 3-day conference, Travel & Words will be a more concentrated event focusing on marketplace meetings between journalists and destinations.

To keep attendance at a low level, Travel & Words events are by invitation only. There is no registration fee for journalists. If you would like to be considered for an invitation to a Travel & Words regional conference, email Allen Cox at editor@nwtravelmag.com.

The focus of the new, regional Travel & Words is networking between journalists and destination marketers. This takes the form of scheduled one-on-one meetings and plenty of networking opportunities. The program also features leading travel & tourism industry insiders who will present valuable insights into making the most out of responsible tourism promotion and media coverage in a world recovering from the pandemic.

April 2-4, 2019

This fully hosted press trip will explore the beauty, tastes and welcoming hospitality of Tualatin Valley, gateway to Oregon’s wine country. Located just minutes from downtown Portland, you will be transported to the north Willamette Valley wine country, where you will be treated to a tour of some of the region’s most iconic wineries. We will introduce you to under-the-radar breweries and the global cuisines of our most popular authentic restaurants. Tualatin Valley also is rich with outdoor recreation, and our tour will include a zip-lining adventure.

In this fully hosted press trip, we’ll share highlights of the Long Beach Peninsula – an iconic Northwest destination notable for its expansive 28-mile beach, medley of small towns, easily accessible wild places, maritime history and historic landmarks, and its rich tradition of eating well. You’ll be visiting during the in-between time, when seafood is at its best and the landscape is newly awash in nature’s first green, the flurry of shorebirds and blows of migrating whales. In the pause preceding summer’s rush, we’ll help you uncover a range of stories by offering rejuvenating and invigorating experiences, mouth-watering coastal cuisine and examples of the creative and resilient spirit that adds vibrancy to this sought-out edge of the world.
